JENNA X,
Jenna X is a British multidisciplinary artist working across portraiture, music, sound and installation. Her practice exists at the intersection of visual art and recorded culture — using paint, sound and immersive process to examine identity, duality and the emotional residue left by iconic figures in the public imagination.
Born and raised in the UK, Jenna began her professional career in music at the age of twelve. Working under the aliases RudeGRL, JayEllDee and Kali, she built a career that traversed independent and major label spaces, collaborating with and receiving credits alongside artists and producers including Basement Jaxx, Sub Focus, Labrinth, N-Dubz, Dawn Penn, Shola Ama, Wiley, Roll Deep, Biff Stannard, Al Shux and Ben Langmaid. Her work has been released through Universal, Mercury Records, BMG Chrysalis, CR2 Records and Universal Production Music.
Her music gained early support from BBC Radio 1Xtra, Huw Stephens, Bethan Elfyn and Ras Kwame, and she was personally spotlighted by Lady Sovereign on BBC 1Xtra as one of her favourite emerging artists. As part of RudeGRL + CC, her work reached international audiences through sync placements across film, television and sport — including the NBA and Love Island — while receiving support from Iggy Pop, BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X, Kiss FM and press outlets including Classic Pop and Vive Le Rock. In 2020, the project received a PMA Mark Award in Los Angeles for Best Hip Hop Track.
Alongside her music career, Jenna has developed a distinctive fine art practice centred on large-scale acrylic portraiture. Her subjects — drawn from music, film and cultural history — are approached through deep immersive research: studying interviews, archival footage and live performance to move beyond likeness toward psychological and emotional truth. Each work explores how identity is constructed, projected and preserved through popular culture, and how cultural figures continue to exist within collective memory long after their moment has passed.
Jenna is also the co-founder of JuiceBox Events, an award-winning creative events platform that became a notable force in the UK’s alternative arts and music scene. JuiceBox gained significant cultural recognition, earning a feature in Dazed & Confused and the support of FKA twigs — cementing its reputation as a tastemaker space where music, art and underground culture converged.
Under the unified identity of Jenna X, she is now bringing both practices into dialogue — developing new works that merge portraiture, sound and installation into a singular, evolving body of work.
